My Introduction


            Hello everyone. My name is Hannah Kihulo. I was born on January 30th, 2001 in Harlem New York. I have spent most of my life in Brooklyn, but I moved to queens about four years ago. During middle school I was home schooled. However, right before I started freshman year, I decided that it would be best to spend my high school years in a public school. 

              There are many things in my life that I am passionate about. For one, I am really interested in current events issues that are going on globally. In fact, my dream is to work for the UN to help solve the social, political, economic, and many other types of problems that are going on in the global community. Another thing that I am passionate about is baking. I first learned to bake when I was 7 and it soon became something that I found joy and comfort in. Makeup and fashion are just a few other things that I enjoy.

                 I have several skills in life that I would like to improve on. Public speaking is one of the main skills that I have trouble with. But my strengths, such as the fact I am determined and strict with myself, will aid me in developing greater public speaking skills. I hope that this class will benefit my fellow classmates and I, both in and beyond the school institution.

Subject: Standardized Testing Audience: School Board, High School Students Purpose: To educate and promote change Speaker: Hannah Kihulo, a high school student         Ladies and gentlemen, throughout my years of high school I have seen first-hand the stress that comes with standardized testing, and i'm sure everyone in this room has experienced it at one point. As a high school student, standardized testing does not fully reflect the information we have learned. Many students with versatile talents and skills cannot show them through this method. In addition, students often feel insecure when taking standardized tests because it causes them to compare themselves to their peers.           If we look at the countries in the world that are at the top in education, such as Finland, it is clear that their methods our extremely different than ours. AP Exam Reflection

        After taking the AP test I can honestly say, it was nothing like i expected. I didn’t think i’d be sitting in a gym with hundreds of other stressed out students and 4-5 proctors annoyingly strolling up and down the aisles for 5 hours. The breaks were way too long and one specific proctor who clearly took her job way too seriously only added to the already present anxiety. In regards to the content of the exam, I found the rhetorical analysis to be the easiest portion. The synthesis essay was extremely time consuming and left me with a limited amount of time to work on the other essays. I had only 20 minutes to spew out whatever argument I could for the argumentative essay, so I’m not really expecting too high of a grade for that. If I could do it all over again, I would manage my time better and study chairs prior to the exam day. I’m still hoping for a 5 though. College board needs to park their carcasses.
